UEFA Champions League last 16
Bayer Leverkusen 1-3 Barcelona
Barcelona have all but qualified for the quarter-finals after Sanchez and Messi put Barcelona 3-1 in front in the first leg ahead of the second at the Camp Nou two weeks time.
Leverkusen sat deep and invited Barcelona on to them hoping that they wouldn’t break them down but 4 minutes from half time Sanchez scored his first champions league goal.
In the second half Bayer came out a little bit more positive creating chances and even equalizing but immediately conceded again then late in the game Messi capped off the victory with a volley.
Leverkusen never believed that they could beat Barca they looked scared, shy and they gave them too much respect. Bleh!
Lyon 1-0 Apoel Nicosia
Alexandre Lacazette's deflected goal gave Lyon a much-needed victory in the first leg of their Champions League match with APOEL Nicosia.
Just like most people this match didn’t excite me when the draw came out so I only watched like 10 minutes of it and lucky me I got to see the goal. BooOOring!
AC Milan 4-0 Arsenal
Arsenal, O Arsenal, wherefore art thou Arsenal? Lol AC Milan bashed Arsenal four goals to nil to crush the Gunners’ European dreams at the San Siro.
This match was kind of boring for me because Arsenal did nothing in attack and AC Milan… well they just played the way they play which is, uhm... boring…
Boateng put the home side in front after 15 minutes with a beautiful half volley, then Robinho 6 minutes from the half time break put Milan two goals in front.
In the second half Wenger took off (overrated) Walcott who didn’t perform once again and put on legendary Thierry Henry pity his legendary status didn’t help because Arsenal concede two more goals.
Arsene Wenger has a lot to think about, his team has no leadership, no defence, and no resilience, AC Milan isn't that good of a team honestly and losing 4-0 to them, for a so-called “top premiership club”, is actually embarrassing I wonder how long it’s going to take for Wenger to wake up.
Zenit St Petersburg 3-2 Petrovski Stadium
Zenit St Petersburg secured a slender advantage in their Champions League last-16 tie against Benfica as Roman Shirokov's brace helped the hosts to a hard-fought win at a cold Stadion Petrovskiy.
Ajax Amsterdam 0-2 Manchester United
A routine win for the Red Devils in Amsterdam with goals from Ashley Young and Javier Hernández.
The first half was some-what dominated by the home team and United weren’t a goal threat.
Amsterdam had more chances and were denied a clear penalty.
In the second half Manchester United came to life and they started controlling the game then in the 58th minute Ashley Young cut in from the left with his right foot to score his first goal since September, 25 minutes later Chicharito slotted in the second after the a counter attack.
Unfortunately for United on-form winger and their best player in the past 4 weeks Valencia got injured after coming on for 5minutes and will be out for a month, but otherwise this match is over.
FC Porto 1-2 Manchester City
Kun Aguero’s late goal was enough to see Manchester City win away from home at the Estadio do Dragao in Portuagal.
This was a tough match for Manchester City especially in the first half where they were pinned back into their own half and also conceded a goal from Valera. But quality prevailed in the second half, City came back strong and they got a lucky break with an own goal then 6 minutes from full time they scored another to bash Porto 1-2.
It was a good game but turned soar after allegations of racism against Mario Balotelli.
Manchester City's executives lodged an official complaint to Uefa after claiming their striker, Mario Balotelli, was racially abused during the club’s victory there.
