The Australian Open: Why I don’t watch the first week

The Aussie Open is the first grand slam of the year and is the only one that takes place in the southern hemisphere. I love the Australian Open because during the course of the 2 weeks I get to see great quality tennis and Australian women, but I personally am not a fan of the first week of the grand slam tournament and here are a few reasons why:

Mans draw too predictable

In the first week we get to see non seeded players (a.k.a nobodies) play against the likes of Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer , and they simply get their ass whooped! I don’t even bother to watch because I know what’s going to happen.

Women’s draw too unpredictable

Okay I know I might be contradicting myself here because I said I don’t like the men’s draw because of it predictability but the women’s draw is just TOO unpredictable and that kind of sucks. Look nobody roots for the under dogs because we all want to see the seeded ladies play each other in the quarter finals or the semi finals because that will be more entertaining tennis! Unlike when a nobody knocks out Serena Williams because she had an off day then the next round that nobody draws Caroline Wozniacki and she gets her ass handed to her on a plate.

Bias commentators

This happens only happens in the first week because that’s how long the Australian players last in the tournament. *chuckle

Waking up 3am in the morning

Okay the thing I hate the most about the Australian Open  is waking up at 3am in the morning to catch a match (this is due to our time differences). After the first week, matches come later in the morning around 9am or 10am.
