5 reasons we want to see Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather this year

It’s been about two years since we started talking about the Pacquiao and Mayweather match up and some of us had even given up on seeing it happen but finally it seems like we might get the fight after all!

Apperently Mayweather called out Pacquiao on twitter, and it went a little something like this:

“Manny Pacquiao I’m calling you out let’s fight May 5th and give the world what they want to see”

“My Jail Sentence (he has been sentenced to 90 days in jail for beat up his ex girlfriend) was pushed back because the date was locked in. Step up Punk!”

Whoa!! I don’t know bout you but that sure sounded like a challenge to me!

Manny did reply (not on twitter, apparently Pac Man is not much of a tweeter) saying that this is the fight the world wants but the Pacquiao camp believe that they would make a lot more money if they push the fight to the end of May because a much bigger venue will be available at that time.

Now here are the top 5 reasons why we would like to see the Mayweather,Pacquiao fight this year:

1. Contrasting styles

Trash talking pretty boy vs. soft spoken Politian

Attack vs. Defense

Technical Boxer vs. Brawler

Cool Relaxation vs. Speed and Energy

Floyd is the best defensive fighter I’ve seen, the guy is hard to hit, and that usually frustrates his opponents and they end up doing something they don’t usually do in fights and give him room to get off clean shots to the face and at the end of 9 rounds we already know who going to win the bout.

Manny Pacquiao has great foot work, speed and stamina he takes he fight to you. Manny can take punches to the face and is really hard to knock out some say he is not much of a technical fighter and he is all about trying to knock the fighter out or wear him out then knock him out but he has improved his technicality and looks more like a all round fighter now.

2. Who is the greatest?

Some people believe that pound for pound Mayweather is the best fighter in history others believe Pacquiao is what do I believe? Well it really doesn’t matter what I believe but I’m hoping this fight will settle the arguments.

3. The long wait

Its about 2 years now and the wait has just been too long,  for those of you who don’t know about the whole Floyd Mayweather and Manny Paquiao soupie it all started in 2010 when it was reported that Pacman had agreed to fight Money Mayweather but due to disagreements about Olympic style drug tests and blah blah blah (you can look it up on wikipedia) the fight didn’t happen but it seems like now we going to get what we have been waiting for.

4. Can Manny Pacquiao be the man who can end the winning streak?

Grand Dad Oscar De La Hoya tried but failed

Undefeated at the time and alcoholic Ricky Hatton tried but failed

Great Grand Dad Shane Mosely tried but failed

Etc...

Floyd Mayweather has a ridiculous 42-0 in professional boxing!

5. Both men at the height of their powers

Mayweather 34 years of age is still in good shape and is still a great fighter.

Pacquiao 32 years of age and the best fighter in the world at the moment.

We don’t want to have the fight 4 years from when Floyd is old and gets the crap beaten out of him and then we blame it on age just like we did when Ali got beaten to a pulp by Larry Homes in 1980.
