Pakistan finished their first ever uncontaminated sweep against England in the Test series on Monday. The Pakistani spin attack was way too much to deal with for the English batsmen, Abdur Rehman and Saeed Ajmal (the Man of the Series) shared 43 wickets between them in a three match Test series and they asked all the questions that England couldn’t answer.
England, which is said to be the best test side in the world, just didn’t play like the no. 1 ranked side in the world, players like Ian Bell (who averaged 8.5 in the series), Kevin Pietersen (11.16) and Eoin Morgan (13.66) looked like below average players and their positions are going to be under scrutiny.
My hat goes off to Pakistan. As I watched the entire series the thought of England even winning a single match did not occur to me. Taking into consideration that the English haven’t lost a test match in 3 years –at home or foreign land- it was a historical achievement for Pakistan and let’s hold our thumbs that they continue from where they left off because they play good cricket.
